The cherries are in full and thick this year and we are gobbling them up. We have a beautiful Royal Anne cherry tree in our front yard and we go pickin' wheneve we pass by. Our neighbor has a HUGE one too, so we are eating our weight in cherries right now. Ah...the farm life.

Congrats to Carson!! He graduated from kindergarten with flying colors. He is going to be a first grader (and go to school for a whole day...woohoo). We are so proud of him and excited for his accomplishments. He's reading everything around him all the time and has made a lot of friends that will be going through the grade school with him--since there is only one class per grade, he better like his classmates ;)

Carson had his first game in T-ball recently and it was the cutest thing ever. I was surprised at how focused they were and how much they all knew about the game. There are no outs and they all get a chance to bat. There were some kids playing with dirt and not knowing where to throw the ball, but that was the best part as a parent. Carson has been enjoying it and loving the social aspect--sometimes the talking is more important than catching the ball...love it!!!!

Carson is growing up!! He turned 6 and had a super-fun Star Wars sleepover at his house. It was an action packed couple of days and he had a blast with all his buddies. I can't believe it's been six years since he was born...time flies.

Carson lost his first tooth on Feb 19th!!! It just seems like yesterday that the same tooth was coming in. He's getting big. He is so funny though. He decided that he didn't want the tooth fairy to take his tooth. He wanted me to save it (if he only knew). So we kept it for about a week, but the desire for money was too great and he succumbed. He finally left it under his pillow. He woke up to find two shiny gold dollar coins the next morning.

Jeremy and I invited all the neighbors over for a fun time. We had a good night. The kids played great together and everyone ate, drank and had a good night. Debi made everyone yummy spanish coffees. I could only handle about a half of one. If any of you have been to Huber's, it was just like those...flames and all.

On our way home from Sunriver, we stopped by the Dam. It was such a sunny day, we couldn't pass up checking it out. The walkway across was closed, but that didn't stop them from trying to climb over the rails and getting a closer look....too bad Mom and Dad were there to spoil their fun--and probably save them from tumbling down the hillside.

We spent a great weekend in Sunriver with Cam, Amy, Isaac and Jacob. It was so much fun. The kids had a blast. We went to Bachelor and went sledding and Carson and I went down the huge sledding hill while Jeremy and Madelyn stayed and played on the little sledding hill. Everyone had so much fun, including the grown-ups.

A Weathered Christmas

We postponed our usual immediate family Christmas dinner to New Year's Day due to the weather. It was great. We had a ton of time to hang out and have fun together. The cousins are always happy to be together and, as usual, we had an amazing dinner thanks to Mom and Carol. What a wonderful 1st Christmas in our new house.

"Hey kids, I have a fun activity planned for today. Let's go ice-skating!!!!" woo-hoo, yayyyy. Yeah, fun in theory. I won't do that again on my own. They loved running around the 'non-ice' area with their skates on and for about 5 min on the ice. After that, it was A LOT of work for mom to keep two kids off their butts and after 1 rotation, they were done..."Oh-no...I paid 27 bucks for this...were going around again, no matter how painful" LOL

This is about the only way the kids will use the guitars. It is so funny. It's probably not the most 'kid friendly' song, but they seemed to enjoy it. Ironically, the name of their band (named by Carson) is "We Love The Whole World". It's kinda long and boring at first, but the good part is at the end when Carson starts to get into it.

What an amazing event. We spent the day at the Scholls Country Festival. It is amazing to me that such a little school like Groner can accomplish such a huge and successful event. It goes to show what dedicated and wonderful parents and volunteers our community has. It was a fun day full of fun activites put on by each classroom (only one per grade) and face painting and food and balloons...fun, fun, fun

Soccer

What an awesome end to a great day!! Along with the first day of school, Carson had his first soccer game tonight. He was so excited, as was I, to go to his game and play a real game. He had only played in soccer camps and summer parks and rec activities for the last three years and he was amped to play an actual game. He kept saying all day "I can't believe I get to play a real game today". It was so much fun getting him into his uniform (he is number 5) and getting his cleats on and going to the soccer field.

When we got to the soccer fields at the fairgrounds, we met up with his coach, Coach Able, the team manager, Lori and the rest of his teammates--the "Green Pythons". After a little bit of chit chat and getting things going the game got on it's way. Jeremy, Grandma Kate, Madelyn and I were there to cheer on Carson and the team. I found myself on the sidelines cheering and chanting like crazy (soccer mom in training). The team consists of 6 players. Each team member gets an equal amount of play time by switching out players every quarter. There are no goalies. They have a hard enough time aiming the ball into the goal without them. I think Carson's team won by a couple goals, but who knows...no one was keeping score. Love That!!

We are so proud of him and I am so glad that he has found something that makes him so happy. I can see what a good thing this is going to be for him. His eyes sparkle when he is called onto the field to play. His whole attitude changes when he gets a soccer ball in his hands, or feet as the rules go, and I can watch his confidence build and build. He is so positive and easygoing when he's playing or even talking about soccer. It is just such an good thing for him.

I don't know what this new 'cool dude' smirk is lately, but I love it. Here he is ready and waiting to go to the game.

First Day of School

What a big day!! Carson and Madelyn had their first days of school today. It was a busy morning with Carson having to catch the bus by 7:30am (oops, we missed it). and Madelyn starting at 9am across town. We drove Carson to school and got him settled into his classroom. He is lucky to already have a good friend and neighbor, Dylan, in his class to make the transition a bit easier. We watched him get started on his coloring project and and then it was a quick hug, kiss and goodbye. Then we were off to take Maddy to school at Valley Christian. She was excited to go until I told her that Mom wasn't staying. Broke my heart to see that smile turn to a frown so fast. She quickly got over it when she learned that she was going to paint....woo hoo painting!!! Bye-bye Mom!!! Then it was a quick trip to the gym for Mom and a race against the clock to get back home before the bus drops Carson off at 10:50. I made it. It was so cute to see his little head poking just above the window on the bus and smile as he saw me waiting for him in the driveway. He had a great day and said he made a lot of new friends. Recess was his favorite part-surprise, surprise. Then we had to rush back to Madelyn's school to pick her up by 11:45. She was busy playing with Flubber. For those of you who don't know what flubber is it is a weird wet, but not wet, plastic-y, Glue-y, substance that the kids just love. After coaxing her out of the classroom, we stopped at McDonald's for lunch and home for a nap before Carson's soccer game tonight. Whew....busy day. It has been a blast so far. What amazing little kids we have. I just can't believe I have two kids in school already.

Bye-Bye Binky!! She did it. Last night was the first night without a binky. I was bracing myself for a sleepless night with a sobbing little girl, but it was a breeze. She started the day by coloring and decorating an envelope to send to the "binky fairy" and then we walked out to the mailbox and sent it. Then she went to bed that night with some whining and asking for the bink, but went to sleep after a couple minutes. Only one wake-up in the night about 2am. Mommy laid with her for a couple minutes and she calmed down and fell back to sleep. She did it!! She woke up this morning to presents and balloons and cupcakes from the binky fairy and was elated. It went so well. Good job Madders!!!!

The Technology is Back

We've moved!! It finally happened a year after the foundation was dug. We are so excited to get to know our new rural life. We are camping out in a trailer and joke about being 'trailer trash'. We are using our house for everything but sleeping. Oh how I miss my bed. I finally had the internet/tv/phone hooked up in our house late last week!! I felt so out of touch and a bit lost without the computer. Sad, I know. I don't know how the Amish do it. And without my babysitter (the TV) I don't get a spare moment to do much of anything--haha. We have had a lot going on since our last post, so I will just put them all together here.

Rural life

On our way back from our new house today, I spotted a beautiful wheat field. I had to stop and get some pictures. I don't know why, but I have always wanted pictures in a wheat field--I know--weird. They turned out okay, but she was getting poked by the wheat and wasn't really feeling it. Carson didn't want to get stuff in his shoes, so he wouldn't do it. I thought we were going to get in trouble for trespassing when a guy started to walk over, but he was just concerned that we were hurt and had no issues with me trampling through his field and taking pictures of Maddy. Good ole' country folk

woo-hoo...he did it. He has been practicing for the last few days and he finally did it today. He put his feet on his pedals and rode off. We are so proud of him for sticking with it. He had his bad days and his bike has a few scratches from where he threw it down...but he didn't give up. I was planning on taking a few pics along with the video, but he had a little crash and needed a Band-aid and a break. I'll have to capture it later.

It's Soccer time again!!

Carson was in soccer camp this week through Hillsboro Parks and Rec. This is his third year. He sure did change from the first year. I couldn't get him to play 2 years ago and this year he was a star. I think he found his calling. It was fun to watch him. They played a scrimmage at the end of every "class" and he was quite the player. He made several goals every game and was very proud. The teachers, whom have been the same every year-very cool-weren't as impressed with his competiveness as Madelyn and I were. We were cheering for him and his team. I think we were supposed to be a bit less focused on competition, but we couldn't help it. He loved it. Madelyn, being the camera lover she is, got in a few glamour shots while being the spectator.

July 4th

We had an awesome 4th of July weekend. We had a fabulous time with friends all day. We started the day with me running in the CAT Walk/5k run downtown as part of the Hillsboro 4th of July Parade. It was fun. I came in at just under 26 minutes--not bad for the slow runner I usually am. Then we headed home and got ready to have many friends/neighbors over for a BBQ-potluck. It was great to watch the kids in the backyard playing and going all over. There were kids everywhere. It's crazy to think that in just 2 short weeks, we won't be here anymore. I hope all the neighbors that the kids have played with and all us moms that gossiped and socialized out front will still be a part of our lives after we move. Anyway, here are some shots of the day.

What a great Dad our kids have. They are so lucky, as am I. He is such a natural and the kids are always happy to be with him. He is so patient and teaches me how to be a better parent without even trying. We spent the day doing what he loves best. We went up into the mountains near Willamina and found some waterfalls called Niagra Falls. It was a mile hike in and out. The kids loved it and got their little toes in the water. Josie is quite the little mountain climber and was worn out by the time we got back to the truck. She slept the whole way home. Madelyn did too--woo hoo. Don't ya just love a long car nap. Happy Father's Day Jeremy!! We couldn't ask for a better day or a better dad.

We were able to get a play date Kersten and Karter before her little boy arrives. It had been too long since we got the kids together and Karter and Madelyn were so cute together. Madelyn feels like the big sis with her, but they will eventually be starting kindergarten at the same time. I am looking forward to that age gap closing in and they will be the best of friends -- they have to be since her mom and I will have them together all the time--haha!! The End of an Era

Carson had his last day of preschool today. He is going into the big leagues next fall. We went to his "graduation" today and watched him sing songs, get a "diploma" and say good-bye to all his preschool buddies that we won't see for a while. It is amazing how fast the years went by. He has grown so much from when we started there at 2-1/2 years old. Now here he is 5 and no longer my little baby. He has really come out of his shell in the time he was there. It was a great experience for us all and we were so lucky to have been able to send him there. Here are a few pics of Carson over the last week or so.

Infamous BPA

After hearing a bit of the hype about BPA, I decided to do some research. Google loves me!! It's the latest thing that we use everyday that's contributing to the demise of the human race. Needless to say, I was skeptical at first. Every other day something new is killing us, but it never hurts to check it out. It is all so vague, but after exhaustive internet search after internet search (can we just say TMI). It is clear that the safest bet is to get rid of it. It has been linked to reproductive problems, early puberty, ADHD and some cancers. We have decided to get rid of all the BPA (wish I would have know this before I had kids and all the Avent and Dr. Brown's bottle use; sorry kids) and steer clear of dangerous plastics. We are trying to reduce the chemical intake all together. Holy cow--we use a lot of plastic and eat a lot of chemicals. It's amazing my kids are still alive with all that they are exposed to.

Paper Frenzy

This was the most fun to watch!! The precious moments when they play together and enjoy eachother are priceless. It is definately one of my very favorite things!! You have to check out the video--it is so funny. I don't let them make such a mess very often, so they took full advantage. Their feet and hands were black when they had exhausted themselves sliding and throwing paper everywhere. I was stuck with all the cleanup--hands, feet and floor--surprise, surprise, but it was all worth it.

The cousins all got together to celebrate Jake's 4th birthday at OMSI. We checked out the cool dinosaur exhibit. Their eyes were all wide with amazement at all the different dinosaurs and how big they were. It was so fun to watch them all. They are getting so big.

We spent the weekend in Salem last weekend with my mom. We were able to celebrate Jacob's birthday at Pietro's (I can't believe he's 4) and then go to a kid's play arena the next day. It was nice to get away from stresses of home for a couple days and just relax and have fun.

This is a shot of Madelyn's big ole fat lip she received at the new house while falling down the stairs and smacking her face on the ground. It was swollen and sore for a couple days, but that girl is tougher than most!!! She was over it after a couple minutes--Mom, however is still recovering from watching her fall.

Family Togetherness

Carson, Madelyn and I went to Champoeg Park to celebrate my uncle's 50th birthday along with lots of family and friends. The kids had a lot of fun. Carson played outside in the rain with his cousins and dug in the mud. Madelyn was happily passed from one relative to another getting treat after treat (can we just say "sugar high").

I can't believe it!! Carson is growing so fast. He had his birthday party last weekend at "Out of This World". The kids had a blast and Carson couldn't wait to get home to put together his new Star Wars Legos. Mom and Dad spent the whole night putting them together for him. He loves all of his new toys and plays with a new one every day. Thanks everyone who joined in the fun.

We had a great Easter. The kids and I went to Salem on Saturday to Illahe, my grandparents country club, for an Easter Egg Hunt. My camera battery went dead pretty quick, but I managed to get a couple shots of the kids. Carson, as usual, refused to take any pics, but I snuck one of the back of his head. Sunday was a fun day. We went to breakfast and Church all together (Even Jeremy) and then spent the evening having dinner with Grandma Boo-boo, Carol and Grandma Kate. The last shot is Carson enjoying himself on the rock wall at a local play place. It's not Easter related, but it was a time when Carson would let me take his picture, so I had to take advantage and post it.

Madelyn and I have been able to spend some time just the two of us lately while Carson is in school during the week. It has been great to have one-on-one time with her. It is rare that we are able to. We have been going roller skating, trampoline jumping and to Pump It Up...I forgot the camera on most occasions but I did get some shots when she was jumping on the trampolines

Big Girl Bed

Madelyn is growing up!! She spent her first night in her big girl bed last night. She loved it!! She was all smiles when it was all done being put together and couldn't wait to go to bed. I don't know how long that will last, but we'll take it!!!

Christmas Day

We had a great Christmas. The kids got up to see what Santa had left for them under the tree and played with all their new stuff and then it was off to Salem to spend time and eat breakfast with the Allen family. We then went back home to have dinner with Grandma, Carol, Cam and Amy. Christmas Dinner was one of the best thanks to Grandma and Carol. Carson and Madelyn didn't want the night to end. They were having too much fun playing with their cousins, Jacob and Isaac.

This ball pit was a big hit, it was the first activity of the day--look at that bed head.

The day ends the same way it begins. The bed head is replaced with static.

Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful time Christmas Eve with Grandma Kate and Uncle Daniel. We hardly ever get to see Daniel. It was great for us all to spend some time together. The kids (and grown-ups) had fun playing video games and just hanging out.

Carson had his church Christmas program today. He practiced and practiced for weeks and got to stand next to his cousin, Thomas and his friend and neighbor, Aardgen. They look too cute in their little "sheep costumes". We were so proud of our shy little boy getting up in front of the whole congregation and doing his very best. He is becoming so brave.

Madelyn tried on the sheep hat and did some sheep noises during the rest of the service. She can't wait to get up there and be singing along with her brother next year.

We went to visit Santa Claus today and Carson got to tell him everything he desired to be under the tree Christmas morning. Madelyn was totally excited to sit on Santa's lap until we got there and then she flat out refused. So Carson got him all to himself. Maybe next year Madelyn will be sitting next to her big brother.

Time has flown by. I haven't posted in a while, so here is a few pictures to bring you all up to date.

This is just after Halloween and Madelyn is checking out some vampire teeth, while Carson is SuperMan for the evening. Gosh, those teeth look really weird on Madelyn.

Here is Thanksgiving with the Crace's. Not many little ones around, but Jeremy took a moment to read a book the them. This is Clark, Jeremy's cousin. They are listening so well, aren't they?

It's Christmas time!! The kids had a blast decorating a gingerbread house.

Lots and lots and lots of candy!! A few days later, Madelyn pulled this house off of the counter trying to steal a gumball off of it and it shattered into a hundred pieces. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

A tree-hunting' we will go!! We went up to find a Christmas tree and have fun in the snow!!
Josie loved the snow until her little paws got cold and then she just shivered....
Here we are patiently waiting for Jeremy to go hunt down the tree and cut it down. The kids had so much fun. The favorite game was snowball fights...of course.

We had lots of fun this year for Halloween. The kids had plenty to do with parties at friends, family, church and school. I think the sugar-high will last a month minimum, but worth it.

Fall Fun and Fractures

Well, as many of you already know, Carson fractured his clavicle at school last week and had to go to the doctor to get X-rays. It just happened to be at the same time he took his class mascot, Barkley, home for the weekend so we had to document all the events of the weekend with the floppy stuffed dog for the journal that goes back to class with him. We also went to our favorite pumpkin patch, Lakeview Farms. The kids had so much fun riding boats and trains and horses and of course picking out pumpkins. Barkley was there to join in on all the fun with us.

Madelyn turned two over the weekend. I can't believe how much she has grown and changed in such a short amount of time. She is so sweet and smart. We couldn't be more proud of her. She had a blast at her birthday party at OGA. She invited a lot of friends and they all seemed to enjoy themselves. Kids playing are too fun to watch.

After school Carson's friend, Nate came over with the class mascot, Barkley and the boys had a fun time playing and then they got to go the pumpkin patch and pick out some fabulous pumpkins to decorate our front porch. It was a fun time for the boys to spend some time together while Madelyn was at Grandma's.

We had another fabulous Fall outing with the MOMS Club. We went to the Peterson Family Apple Farm and played in the hay maze, went on a tractor ride and picked apples, beans and blackberries. We even got to feed our apple cores to the goats and llamas. We had a great time.

We took an afternoon and went bowling with the MOMS Club that we belong to in the area. Carson even got a STRIKE!! I think that bowling is going to become a regular activity for us.

We decided to make cookies one day this week and the kids had a great time. Carson helped from start to finish. He helped make the dough and roll it out and then he got to frost and decorate one just for Daddy. I couldn't believe it, but he really did save it for him and he didn't even try to take a taste. Madelyn couldn't get the frosting on hers fast enough. It was time to eat before we even got the the sprinkles out. She did take a break to shake a pile of sprinkles on, however. It was a crack-up to watch her try different ways of eating to avoid getting her fingers messy.

It's Groundbreaking!!

It's finally happened!! We broke ground for our new house today!!! Yipeeeeee!! Jeremy's friend, Bill, came out today to dig the foundation and the driveway. I couldn't help but load the kids up and drive over there to capture the momentous occasion! I am creating a new blog just for the new house building process. I'll create a link from here.

We spent a great afternoon with Kersten and Karter last week. We took advantage of the hot sun and went to the City Park fountain and played in the cool water. Carson didn't hesitate to get right in and get soaked. Madelyn took it a little slower. Miss Karter is walking like crazy now and loves to be in the water and play with her friend Madelyn. They were so fun to watch.

Wow...how time flies. My Best Friend Kersten's little girl, Karter turned one on the 21st. We were lucky to celebrate the occasion with many friends and family. Carson and Madelyn had a great time. The activities were endless from the balloons, hand prints, pinata, cake and presents. It was a great party. Karter and Madelyn are only 10 months apart and I just know they are going to be the best of friends.

Raegen's Birthday Party

Maui Fever

Wow!! What an amazing trip to Hawaii. Carson and I had a lot of time to spend together, just the two of us. It was so much fun. We were on the beach within 2 hours of jumping off the plane in Maui. We loved the weather and all the fun stuff to do. Jeremy got to spend the last couple days with us after he completed all his work. Carson didn't want to come home. We can't wait to go back and take the whole family next time.

Carson's Swimming Lessons

Yet another Summer activity for Carson. He had swimming lessons and did super!! He loved the water and graduated to the next level at the end of the two week session. It is such a big change from the boy who wouldn't get into the pool at all the year before to this year seeing how long he could hold his breath and jumping in from the edge. He is really growing up.

4th of July

As the kids get older, the holidays get more fun. They had a great 4th. We started the day by going to the Parade downtown (I forgot the camera). Carson and Madelyn got a load of candy thrown at them. They loved it. We then spent the rest of the day with our neighbors Mike, Michelle and their daughter Paige. Carson and Paige have been friends for a long time and had a great time letting off fireworks.

We spent the morning this morning at "Pump It Up Jr." a great new place for kids to play and run around sliding and jumping around on inflatables and ride around in Cozy Coupes!! Carson and Madelyn had a great time. It is a perfect place to run off their energy and get some exercise. Carson ran into one of his friends from his soccer class, Noah, and they were able to play together. It was a weird coincidence that they were both wearing soccer shirts...hmmm

Carson had soccer camp last week and totally enjoyed himself. He has really improved over the last year. He sure has grown up and come out of his shell so much. He even played goalie!! He also dribbled the ball down the field and almost scored a goal. Good Job Carson. Madelyn loved being the spectator, but she was anxious to try it for herself

Father's Day Fun

Here are some pictures of Father's Day Weekend. Jeremy took Carson up to an archery course in the mountains and they had a blast looking at wildlife. We had a fun weekend playing in our backyard. The kids are quite the sports fanatics. They couldn't get enough. Carson is really good at throwing the frisbee. He's our little jock already. Madelyn, however had quite the run in with the t-ball stand as you can see. It didn't slow her down one bit. Mom had a harder time with it than she did. I guess it's bound to happen with active kids.

Carson has become quite the big boy. We enrolled him in Karate last week and he can't get enough. It is so much fun for him and he can't wait for every class. It's amazing to watch him listen so closely and follow directions so well. Doesn't he look handsome in his uniform?

Rainbow Property

We took the kids to Oceanside Beach over Memorial Day weekend. They had so much fun. We built sandcastles and played in the water. Madelyn loved it. This is the first time she has been since she could walk and truly enjoy it. It was a beautiful day and even Josie got sandy.
